So, a couple of months ago, I decided I wanted to start growing out my pixie cut, so I got my last cut (thus far). We shall see if I can hold out during the awkward months (they started! gah!).
I got my hair cut short for the first time in January 2012 and my last cut was in May 2013.
(May 2013, excuse the puppy :P)
I know that you shouldn't really colour your hair too much when growing out your hair, but I find that it helps distract me from the awkward lengths. I keep it healthy by using conditioner and hair masks (I really like the Macadamia Deep Repair Mask).

Tips for growing out your pixie cut:
1. Get the back trimmed. Now, I haven't gone to get that done yet, BUT I have an appointment to get that done this Saturday. Keeping the back trimmed will help you avoid the mullet-look as long as possible and it'll keep you sane when growing out your pixie cut! :)
2. Don't get scared of accessories! Wear cute headbands and extravagant hair clips. It'll help distract you from your growing hair while adding a very cute, eye-catching flair to your hair (hey, that rhymes!)!

3. Once it gets long enough, add little braids. It's cute, simple and you don't have to worry about the length of your hair, because it'll be hidden in the braid! :)

4. Keep it healthy. Now, I don't excel with this because I like to colour my hair, a LOT. I try to keep the bleaching to a minimum (if you want to try different hair colours, have your hair toned to a silver colour and then add non-permanent or semi-permanent hair dyes after a couple weeks, they end up fading and then you can change the colour. I've found that the damage is quite minimal with this method!). I also use hair masks to keep it healthier.
5. Just be patient! I've been waiting 4 months now and it hasn't grown all that much, so I've got a long ways to go. It'll eventually grow back and you'll end up missing your pixie cut in no time! ;)
